Bengali Literature illustrations

Aurko Maitra is an Indian writer raised in Singapore. He now lives in Calcutta, where he works as a writer and freelance journalist.

Two illustrations, for Maitra's works "Decades" as well as "East India Supari" were done by myself, while in correspondence with the writer. Drawn in the sketchy and rough style of ancient Bengali mythological manuscripts, the artworks pay a striking resemblance to the grunge atmospheres created in the narratives.

“Decades”, Maitra's first published story by AGNI - the American literary magazine founded in 1972, may be viewed at: https://agnionline.bu.edu/fiction/decades
